Momentum Flip-Flop, QoL Updates, and (Guild) Scam Likely | Ashes of Creation Weekly Update
Just when you thought things were calming down, it picks right back up again
Envious for Enveus PI Accounts
Enveus, one of the largest and oldest guilds in Ashes of Creation, made waves this past week, when accusations flew regarding scamming and account selling.
DA, former leader of Enveus, and Phoenix Initiative member, has been accused of selling PI accounts to members of his guild. While this is against ToS, it hadn’t come to light until players who had sent him money were dismayed to find out he had seemingly stopped responding.
While these are serious enough accusations, it didn’t stop there. Shortly after this became known to other members of Enveus/Gilded Gaming leadership, the guild Discord, home to over 2000 players (as well as one of the few guild discords Creative Director Steven Sharif was a part of on his official Discord account) was sold to a TTRPG Game Company.
While rumours of the price are abound, these Discords usually go for several thousands of dollars, as they give legitimacy to new brands that otherwise would take years to accumulate.
While DA denies actually scamming anyone, it seems as if he doesn’t deny either selling PI accounts, or facilitating the purchasing of them as a middle man. Where this puts him in regards to Intrepid Studios ToS, the verdict is still out.
Players have been very vocal about Intrepid Studios showing favoritsm to specific players over others, with some accusations holding more weight. However, Steven has always said he would not jeopardize his games integrity for any relationship, so we shall see how Intrepid respond to this situation as it develops.
Patch Notes Highlights - QoL Continues
Some of the major changes included in this patc his the ability to select any quantity for processing, which has been a requested feature since Day 1 of Alpha 2. Also, skill linking in chat as well as Artisan Tool trading have finally been introduced.
Keep the Momentum Going
Players have been discussing bunny hopping (jumping as soon as you land on the ground in order to retain forward momentum) for weeks, especially it’s tactical advantages & disadvantages. Some players feel it improves the overall fluidity of the game, while others feel it takes away from intentional movement skills, making them obsolete
Steven himself hopped into the Discord to gather feedback from the players, sparking a heated debate as to the effect of this change, how testing on PTR could have given Intrepid more information ahead of the A2 implementation, and more.
Apparently 2 hours of feedback was all that was needed for Steven to request a revert for these momentum changes. However, the combat team is still intent on fixing the macro-abuse of bunny hopping resulting in a massive movement scope creep.
