Mining Secrets, Daggers Preview, and Archetype Changes | Ashes Weekly Newsletter
Been a long few weeks, but things are starting to heat up
With Intrepid Studios finally back in full force after their holiday break, the team has hit the ground running! Aside from all the drama, players have been running around on the servers with a relatively stable experience, with minor networking issues. This is far-and-away much improved from Phase 1 launch, so kudos to the Networking team!
While Dynamic Gridding is still not in the game, we can expect to see and hear more updates on that as we get closer to Phase 3.
Steven Starts Streaming
Creative Director Steven Sharif has recently begun his streaming career, taking to Twitch and hosting mini-community events on all Realms. From donating Santa Hats to dropping Raid Bosses on unsuspecting fishermen, Steven has been stalking roaming Verra, a spectre of gifts and misfortune.
Aside from fooling around, Steven also answers community questions throughout the stream, from sneak peeks of future work, to general system outlines that may be obfuscated from most. Check out his stream and make sure to give it a follow!
Daggers, Desert, and Da Spears
One such sneak peek Steven showed is the upcoming Dagger and Spear weapontypes. While much of the work is still outstanding, players were able to see some basic animations (sans weapon trails), and have an idea of what the the playstyle might be for those classes that would use them. Players are hording copper and tin en masse so they could craft these items when they become available, so keep an eye out for some good deals in your local Marketplace.
Steven also discussed future changes coming to the Desert, which will soon be the home of PoIs and Dungeons as they continue to work on the biome. Check it out in the video above!

Featured Content Creators
This week, our featured content creators dive deep into leveling, mining, and the oh-so-sought-after Treasure Maps.
X Marks The Spot
With Treasure maps finally being bug-fixed, more players than ever are finding a use for those Faded Maps sitting in their inventory (and all that Ash wood lying around). Rewards can be varied, from dozens of Flax, to Buff Scrolls, and even high-rarity ore and gems.
Content Creator Yommi takes us through his journey with Treasure Maps, in a cozy long-form video.
Solo-Leveling (Not That One)
After the Realm merges, players were definitely vocal about how much more difficult it would be to grind in the most sought after mob spots. From Remnants of Sephillion to Church of the Seven Stars: no matter your level, you’re unlikely to be alone.
Youtuber exZact is back again with another leveling guide, but this time, for the solo player. While all classes can level solo, some classes have a better time than others. So while it may not be the most efficient way to get XP, the independence and ability to jump and just do something is sometimes exactly what you need, instead of spamming Global chat hoping for an invite.
Mining: How Does It Work?
Whether you’re a dedicated gatherer, or just like hitting rocks that look pretty, you can’t deny the joy you get from getting a random high-rarity drop from a tree or rock on the way to your storage. But is it truly random at all?
Mook Chivalry decided to test that theory out, confirming some longheld beliefs aroudn the RNG behind mining, as well as the hidden methods those Master and Grandmaster Miners have perfected to have entire storage accounts filled with Epic and even Legendary materials.
While this is all speculative, and can change at a moments notice, this might clear a few things up that you might have been confused about on your journey.
