Best Way To Make Money, PvP Safe Zones, and Player Shops | Ashes of Creation Weekly Newsletter
Now that the Weekend of Asmongold is behind us, time to get into another week of feedback and testing!
Caravan Runs Are OP
With the recent update to durability, and players finding out the hard way their gear has been broken for quite a while (no seriously, check your gear often), repair costs are becoming more and more of a problem.
Often, players are selling their glint just as quickly as they’re repairing during the early levels, forcing other passions like crafting or processing to the backseat.
Some players mentioned cutting down trees and mining rocks and selling them as an easier, less risky way of getting money. And when your gear is completely broken, that can definitely work as a worst-case scenario. But non-Archeage players might be unfamiliar with the main purpose of Glint: Caravans.
In every Node (after it has been leveled up), the Caravanserai & Hunting Lodge will be your main ways of accumulating wealth. Each Node’s Hunting Lodge sells Commodities for Glint, and Glint only. These Commodities largely purposeless outside of their intended use: to be sold at another Node.
While these Commodities can vary in price, even the cheapest one is difficult for lower levels to purchase if you’re constantly vendoring your Glint. So I’d advise you to start saving now, so you can experiment with this process.
Once you’ve purchased your Commodities, and loaded up your Caravan, take it to any Node and you’ll quickly discover that this is the best way to make money in the current state of the game (with no Auction House or real crafting economy possible).
Be warned, however: Caravans are free-PvP zones. That means players will be free to attack you for your cargo without incurring any Corruption. In fact, they’ll be prompted to when a Caravan rolls by.
Don’t let this scare you though, as most players are usually traveling for a specific purpose, and won’t have the time, nor damage, to really contest you.
If 1 or 2 people do try, just ignore them and keep on going. They’ll get tired before doing any real damage. If a group of players do, however, then you won’t have much of a chance unless you’re also traveling with several friends.
That brings me to the next point: get some friends to all put their Glint/Commodities into the same Caravan, and protect it on the way to a Node. This makes you more secure, and everyone can share in the wealth.
If you’d like a little more information on the process, check out the video below by ShawnTheWeirdo. It gives a very basic view, but this process will most likely change several times over the months and years, so get out there and try it out. No better time to risk your Commodities than during an Alpha that will get wiped anyways.
Player Shops Soon™
Steven jumped into the Discord earlier this week to answer a few questions posed by fellow players. One such question was about bringing forward even a basic Marketplace system so players can start trading recipes and crafting materials.
As is usually the case with live player testing, things change and move. Especially when it comes to the priority of tasks. Player Shops are originally scheduled for sometime during Phase 2 (December 20th 2024 to May 1st 2025).
However, it’s possible we could see it even sooner, if what Steven implies is true. Don’t hold your hopes too high, however. As there still is a wipe planned for December 20th, 2024 for Phase 2. This will likely result in a completely different economy and world, as several Guilds will change servers, major bugs & exploits that people had found to quickly level or acquire gear will have been patched, and the Artisan skill tree will be enabled.
With lower-levels most likely being even more congested, and crafting/processing having a longer-lasting impact, expect a massive rush for resources and much more small-scale PvP.

Unofficial Linux Compatibility
One constant question people have asked in the Ashes of Creation Discord is: Will I be able to run this on Linux/Steam Deck/GeForce Now?
Well at least one of those questions has been sort-of answered. Youtuber FunkyGaming TV managed to get Ashes of Creation Alpha 2 running on their Linux machine.
Now, Ashes of Creation is an Unreal Engine based game, so it’s not impossible their might be official support in the future. But as the game is currently focused on…well…becoming a game, I wouldn’t hold out hope of anything official for at least a year, if not longer.
In the meantime, check out the video below if Linux was the only thing holding you back from joining the world of Verra
Fastest AoE Farming?
We all know Mages have godly AoE in almost every MMO, making them the defacto most popular, and most sought after DPS class. Most melee players just want their class to feel good when they play, and not be absolutely terrible.
Well, after hitting 12 and unlocking the skill Blood Transfusion, Fighters become an absolute demon when it comes to solo AoE farming.
Youtuber GrindEnjoyer showcases just how far you can push this tactic in the higher levels, with an estimated 750k EXP PER hour and approximately 4 Gold worth of Glint.
Is this balanced gameplay, or should Mages always be the best AoE farmers and Fighters carve out another niche? Leave a comment with your thoughts below
Patch Notes - 11/15/2024
There was quite a lot of patch notes, with the Bard class getting hit harder than most due to it’s high levels of DPS and Support capabilities, often being better farmers in the early level than DPS classes.
Check out the full patch notes here.
EXP Changes
One change this weekend that might go unnoticed for most but is definitely gaining attention in the more hardcore community is the experience changes. If you are in a party with someone 3 or more levels higher than you, you will get greatly reduced experience than you would have otherwise.
This will in fact widen the gap between you and your party higher-level party members, as opposed to the expected goal of gettin powerleveled.
This is most likely due to the changes done to stop powerleveling among larger groups, and data will be gathered to see how effective it is. Be sure to let your voice be heard in the forums and comments below if you feel this change is beneficial, or not.
